Call to Order:
Louis Rosbottom called the meeting to order at 2:20 pm.

§ Corrine Kendrick made a motion to accept the minutes with amendments.

§ Renee presented the Treasurer’s Report.
§ Floyd Frieszell asked about budgeted mat official appropriations.
§ Rex Peckinpaugh made a motion to accept the report as presented.

§ Web casting option would be nice, but there are other conflicts at this time.
Recap of Tournament Management Meeting
§ Kids Folkstyle @ Ben Davis discussion: need to work out issues with the PA system, might think about adding pre-registration, Coach Moss very cooperative.
§ SchoolBoy/Cadet/Junior Folkstyle @ Huntington discussion: consider mat side pairing, consider vertical pairing, consider adding sessions, and add a table for table help sign ups.
§ Upcoming Tournaments-Greco State, Freestyle State and SchoolBoy Duals discussion: went over what needs to be done in preparation and what is already in place.
New Business:
Folkstyle Nationals
§ 28 wrestlers participated in Folkstyle National trip. Thanks to Danny Struck on a very successful trip.
§ Special appreciation, recognition and congratulations to Tom Clark – officiating at Olympics! A presentation will be made at Freestyle State.
Indiana Athletes Excel
§ Bryce Hasseman (currently ranked 5th in the nation) won a regional tournament, which qualifies him for the Olympic Trials.
§ Jesse Hasseman finished 4th at the same regional tournament.
§ Katie Downing has also qualified for the Olympic Trials.
Disciplinary Committee
§ A committee will be chosen to discuss 2 separate incidents that need to be addressed.
§ Discussion concerning policies and procedures.
Board Meetings
§ Tom Dolly made a motion to move all Sunday 2pm meetings to 11am.
§ Joe Downing made an amendment to change 11am to noon.
§ All in favor – Call for show of hands: 14 in favor, 4 opposed, 3 abstained.
Directors Reports
§ Vice Chair of Administration – Tom Dolly
o Sports Medicine – Isaac Hook
§ Has SchoolBoy Duals contract and will be complying.
o Membership Director – Trina Dowden
§ Following up with clubs who have not sanctioned and those who have not turned in unused USA card sales.
§ 3 outstanding debts will be flagged at Freestyle State and Greco State. Two of these debts are from SchoolBoy Duals and one from Jr. Nationals.
§ Six accounts were sent to collection and we have collected on 3.
§ Virtual Terminal would cost $30/month through Paypal. Would like to offer a credit card payment option for trips on trip applications. $3.40/$100 on transactions less than $3000 (3.1% + $.30). Bill Nicely offered his terminal services for a lesser %.
§ Mike Dowden made a motion for the ISWA to pursue virtual terminal through Paypal to allow the ISWA to accept credit card payments. Rex Peckinpaugh seconded the motion. John Schattner suggested checking with IHSAA to see what they use. All in Favor - None opposed-Motion passed.
Director of Services – Sharon Dowden
§ Has received the Middle School Duals Report from Team Leader Joe Mullins. Coaches: Ed Pendoski, AJ Bradely, Zac Harper, and Shaun Richardson. Ed Pendoski brought in awards won by Team Indiana.
§ Sharon will take care of Cadet and Junior Dual team entries.
§ Illinois is inquiring about the SchoolBoy Dual date for 2009.
§ Aaron Moss has booked 2 weekends in March with Ben Davis until final date is chosen/set.
§ State Fairgrounds will send new contract for 2009, which is due back July 1, 2008.
§ We are still down 14 clubs. Discussion: Why are we losing clubs? How can we do things better?

§ Working on upcoming state tournaments and purchased new pencil sharpeners.

§ For Fargo: Needs definite number of rooms with deposits which will be nonrefundable. Looking at Country Inn Suites. Discussion. Chris Lynch will call John on Monday morning with estimated numbers (definite counts will be unknown).

§ Singlets are ordered for Nationals. Brute giving discount for size discrepancies last year.
o Hospitality Director – Linda Robinson
§ Thanked Chris Lynch and Bill Nicely for their help while she was recovering. Thanked ISWA for get well card.

§ Has received comments from Section 3 that pairings staff is unapproachable. Also received good, positive feedback.

§ Sand Wrestling Tournament in Florida was a good time.
§ Franklin Iron Man successfully used mat side pairing for all 3 styles of wrestling.

§ USA Wrestling is offering a scholarship for up to $200 for camps, based on need.

§ Will work with Danny Struck on coaches list. Team Leaders need to be at state tournaments to talk to qualifiers.

§ Submitted Folkstyle National report via email: Thanks to Coach Robbie Rhinehart and Leonard Collett for their positive attitudes and concern for the athletes. Thanks to Danny Struck for making the trip possible. Indiana wrestlers were excellent ambassadors for Indiana wrestling. Special recognition to our 3 All Americans: Brock Wathen, Mark Collett and Korey Eck. A very valuable experience.

§ Thanks for the opportunity to server as Women’s Director.
§ Brought pin point map to show efforts in localizing women’s practices.

§ Looking for clinicians for Franklin Camp. Franklin Coach Matt Krulik has volunteered to help.
§ In Fargo, wants to keep girls in dorm (not hotels).

§ Folkstyle Nationals-Cedar Fall, IA-Thanks to Renee Schoettle, and Frank Marsiano.
§ Indiana was very organized at Nationals and the shirts looked awesome.

JD Minch – ISHWCA Trip. 28 athletes. 1st Team placed 2nd. 2nd Team placed 13th. All coaches are also with the ISWA. We are “bridging the gap”!
