ISWA WRESTLERS EARN 109 MEDALS AT THE 2009 IHSAA STATE FINALS

            A large number of wrestling fans turned out for the 71^st Annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Individual Wrestling State Finals held February 20- 21, 2009 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Of the 224 wrestlers qualifying for this event, 212 participated in the ISWA program as well. There is no record of participation for the 12 remaining wrestlers.

            At this competition, the IHSAA awarded a total of 112 medals to wrestlers placing 1^st through 8^th.

            After checking our membership data base the ISWA has compiled the following numbers:

ISWA Member Wrestlers took home 104 medals including:  

          14 — 1^st place medals

          14 — 2^nd place medals

          14 — 3^rd place medals

          12 — 4^th place medals    

          11 — 5^th place medals

          12 — 6^th place medals

          13 — 7^th place medals    

          14 — 8^th place medals

 8 non-ISWA members were awarded medals including:

          0 — 1^st place medals

          0 — 2^nd place medals

          0 — 3^rd place medal

          2 — 4^th place medal                                  

          3 — 5^th place medals

          2 — 6^th place medals

          1 — 7^th place medals

          0 — 8^th place medals

IHSAA TEAM STATE FINALS

8 teams qualified through their regional and semi-state to compete in the 14^th Annual IHSAA Team State Finals on February 28, 2009.

Those teams included: Bellmont, Castle, Crown Point, Delphi, Mishawaka, Perry Meridian, Roncolli and Cathedral.

With the exception of Delphi, all teams participating in this event offer an ISWA club in their area.
